The Days of '47

The Days of '47 remembers Utah's early pioneers with 21 separate events beginning in March and culminating with an all-day extravaganza. The events take place all over the region. The youth parade which takes place the last Saturday has over 4,000 children, with floats, costumes, live entertainment, rodeo, clowns and bands. Plus entertaining musical shows and much more. Following the Youth Parade, one of the largest and oldest such parades in the nation participants and spectators will find free activities, games and pioneer- style attractions for hours of family fun. Kids will love the inflatable slides, obstacle courses and bouncers, watch for our craft tables and face painting. Large and small booths sponsored by local organizations will feature games, hands-on learning activities and prizes. Interactive safety areas will teach life-saving information and sporting events will motivate kids to be more active. Diverse music will fill the air, while snacks and frozen treats will be available at minimal prices. The final Monday at 9am features one of the oldest parades in the U.S. the Pioneer Day Parade. Colorful floats, bands, horses, clowns and other entries thrill thousands of spectators each year. Many families camp out on the streets the night before to ensure a great seat to catch it all the following morning. The Parade starts at State Street and South Temple. We encourage you to join us for a wonderful morning of excitement and colorful entries in our much-loved Parade.

The Montana Folk Festival features performances and demonstrations by over 250 of the nation’s finest musicians, dancers and craftspeople. The Original Stage, which offers a panoramic view of Butte's historic high rise buildings and the surrounding mountains, is located on the site of the historic Original Mineyard, with its dramatic headframe that is a remnant of Butte’s early days as an underground copper mining center.
