Deep Soft Powder From Multiple Big Northeastern Snowstorms

A parade of fresh snowstorms takes skiing and snowboarding to a whole new level in the Northeast. Okemo kicked off the week with another 15 inches of fresh snow in vermont. Natural trails like steeps, glades and moguls have deep soft snow at Smugglers Notch--they host a family snowshoe festival on Sunday, February 8. Gunstock and Ragged Mountain New Hampshire both got over a foot last week and again this week. Ragged has gladed trails for deep soft powder skiing between the trees. Wachusett got more than 50 inches the last 2 weeks in Massachusetts. Join the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge at Catamount in the Berkshires on Saturday. it's a free race with lots of great prizes followed by fireworks Saturday night.

Whiteface had 2 snowstorms in the Adirondacks this week--they have an Olympic scavenger hunt this weekend with and they're giving away skis and clothing. They also host the Empire State Games through Sunday with New York's top athletes competing at Whiteface and the Olympic village of Lake Placid in all the same events as the Olympics like downhill skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, hockey, bobsledding and Nordic events like ski jumping and cross country skiing.

Nearly 2 feet of fresh snow at Mountain Creek, New Jersey over the last 2 weeks puts them near 100% with the Burton Mountain Festival this weekend, with clinics, new snowboard demos and a little kids' terrain park. Snowshoe Mountain is going strong in West Virginia. They started the week with 3 inches of snow and will continue to have opportunities at fresh powder over the next several days.

Michigan resorts keep skiing soft packed powder with another 4 inches of fresh snow falling at Crystal Mountain and Nubs Nob this week.

It's been awhile since big snow took over the Rocky Mountains but snowstorms are brewing and more powder days are in store at Ski Cooper and Monarch. Utah mountains started getting fresh snow on Wednesday with several inches at Deer Vally, Alta and Powder Mountain. They're looking at over a foot of fresh snow this week. Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee's impressive snow year continues in Wyoming with deep powder from 2 feet of snow this week.

Big precipitation is moving into Lake Tahoe mountains by this weekend with the hopes to turn the season around with deep fresh snow and more slopes to open
