Every family has their own Thanksgiving tradition. Some choose to hunker down together for the football match-up of the day. Others congregate in the kitchen for hours of cooking. No matter what your family favorite is, you should consider adding these parades (that aren’t Macy’s) to the lineup.

McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Chicago

Slate Street is taken over by floats and Ringling Bros. elephants leading the way. Expect to see Ronald McDonald and his clown crew throughout the route. It’s broadcast nationally, so you can stay in your pajamas.

6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade Philadelphia

Philadelphia started the tradition of Thanksgiving parades to begin with, and the fun hasn’t stopped since 1920. For 1.4 miles revelers are treated to entertainers, marching bands and your kids’ favorite characters from movies and shows.

America’s Thanksgiving Parade Detroit

Tied with Macy’s in New York as the nation’s second-oldest Thanksgiving parade, downtown Detroit’s parade has come alive every year since 1924. Join spectators for kickoff at 9 a.m. and keep watch for Santa.
