Climate change and agriculture will be one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Scientists are trying to find ways to help prevent issues for farmers down the road.

Scientists are looking to identify regions that, in 20 years, will mirror what is going on now. Soybean farmers in parts of the U.S. are already working with conditions similar to the ones that soybean growers around Shanghai, China, will experience within about 20 years.

According to a new report from the C-G-I-A-R Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security, there is research already underway to try and prevent more threatened food production in the future. Scientists are developing a version of time travel to to get a glimpse at what could happen down the road in hopes of making a bad situation now, better in the future.
