Drenching, heavy rain inundated Taiwan over the weekend, much to the distress of these drivers in Keelung, Badouzi.

The area received were 12.57 inches (319.5 mm) of rain over the weekend, with 8.68 inches (220.5 mm) of that falling on Saturday alone. The rain was a result of the then-forming Tropical Storm Toraji north of the area.

All that rain trigged the mudslide seen in the video below. When rain saturates the ground on an incline, like on this mountain, it can cause rocks and soil to loosen and plummet down the slope.

According to AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Leister, generally dry conditions can be expected for the region in the coming days.
