FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How do I set the
barometer?
You will need to set your AccuWeather Station barometer to
the nearest "sea-level pressure" in order to standardize the reading for
meteorological use.
If you are a subscriber to AccuWeatherStation.com Premium,
the nearest pressure reading will be shown on your home page under "Nearest
Official Observation." Note the time of the reading and whether the pressure is
Falling, Rising, or Steady. If the you are within a few miles of the station,
and the pressure is steady, you can use this reading to set your barometer (see
the instructions that came with the station on how to do this). If the pressure
is rising or falling, you may wish to access the "Past 24 Hour Conditions" to
estimate how much it is falling per hour.
If the "Nearest Official Observation" is very far from you,
you may wish to use the AccuWeatherStation.com Premium Maps to view pressure
readings in your state. To do this, select "Pressure" under the Current
Temperatures map at the bottom of your home page. You can then estimate the
pressure if you are inbetween stations. Since these readings are "sea-level
pressure," they are not affected by elevation, only location.
