SNOW WARNING SERVICE™

Details
Get the most accurate and dependable forecasts and information when you need it.

The winter season throws us a variety of weather conditions. Therefore, different advisories are issued at different times for various winter weather scenarios. Below is a list of the three different types of advisories that we issue depending upon the situation at hand.
  • Alerts: These are typically sent out 24-48 hours in advance of a pending snowstorm. Most alerts will be issued between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Alerts are not a call to action, but a notification of the possibility of an upcoming snow or ice event. These alerts provide you with an early glance of key information, which includes the chance of a storm, the date and estimated start time of a storm, the type of storm with an initial predicted snowfall amount, and the date and time when the alert will expire.

  • Special Statements: These are issued at least 3-4 hours in advance of a snow or ice event. These statements are issued for a variety of winter weather scenarios and are more specific than alerts. These statements are generally issued in relatively minor or uncertain snow and ice events. If the snow or ice becomes more severe or more certain, an updated warning is issued. These statements include information such as accurate starting and ending times, total snow and ice accumulations and the worst-case scenario and its probability, along with much, much more.

  • Warnings: These are issued anywhere from 4 to 24 hours prior to a snow or ice event. These statements are issued for a variety of different winter weather scenarios and are very detailed. Warnings are issued whenever snowfall amounts will exceed 2 inches and/or significant ice accumulations are expected. These forms indicate accurate starting and ending times, total snow and ice accumulations, snow and ice probability and the worst case scenario and its probability, along with much, much more.

As an added bonus, you will have access to a personalized, password-protected client website that you and any of your staff will have access to at any time and from any computer. Any winter weather advisory that we issue will be automatically sent to this website within seconds of when we issue it, allowing you and any of your staff members to view it immediately. In addition, you will have access to our PREMIUM AccuWeather website, including radars, satellite images, surface weather maps, and much more.
