Rainfall will seem almost unending for flood-ravaged England this week. Rain
continued to fall through the day Sunday. A small break in the rain is expected
Monday, before the next storm brings wind and rain Monday night through
Wednesday
Rainfall of 1-3 inches will soak northern England, Scotland and Ireland this
week. This includes Cumbria County, England, where the flooding has been the
worst.
A national record rainfall for England occurred in Cumbria County this past
week when more than a foot of rain fell in just 24 hours.
Around an inch of rain has fallen across the flooded areas this weekend.
Flood waters swept through the cities of Cockermouth and Workington. A police
officer was killed trying to direct traffic away from a bridge in Workington
when it collapsed. His is being hailed a hero.
