An upper-level storm system will invade the northern Plains tonight, bringing a bit of snow to the region. At this point in the game, not a lot in the way of accumulations will occur. However, as the storm dives southeastward into Iowa Wednesday, a better chance for accumulating snow will exist.
The storm will move through Iowa Wednesday night, then into parts of Ohio Thursday. The heaviest snow will fall over parts of Iowa, with less accumulation farther east.
A stripe of 1-2 inches will be common from southern Minnesota into northern Iowa. There could even be pockets of 2-4 inches throughout northern Iowa, but at this time it is hard to tell exactly where that will set up. There will also be snow showers in the Great Lakes region Thursday, but no major accumulations are expected.
Snow showers will likely continue Friday across Michigan and migrate southward and eastward into northern Ohio, northern and western Pennsylvania, and western New York. Higher elevations and away from the lakes will be the most likely areas to get accumulations across these states, but at this time, even these areas will likely not get much at all.
