As the latest Pacific storm winds
down in
the Northwest, a new storm looms for the
same area Saturday night with coastal
gales, low elevation rain and
lowering
snow levels in the mountains.
The late fall through early spring is a stormy time for
the Northwest and the current pattern will fit right
into the mold through the week of Thanksgiving.
The next storm in the train will arrive in coastal areas of Washington and Oregon late Saturday with rain and
gusty winds.
As the storm pushes inland and the atmosphere cools,
snow levels will lower
to below pass level in the
Cascades. From 1-2 feet of snow will fall in
the
Cascades, the Blue Mountains, the Bitterroots and
Clearwater.

Recent storms and avalanche risks have forced officials to close the following passes in Washington state for the season: Rainy, Washington, Chinook
and Cayuse.
People who travel through Snoqualmie Pass, at around 3,000 feet in elevation along
Interstate 90, will encounter a new round of snow,
strong winds and low visibility Saturday night into early Sunday.
At least two people were killed by falling trees in Washington from the storm on Thursday.
The new storm could bring strong enough wind to down more trees and perhaps knock power out in some communities this weekend.
Two more storms are expected to affect
the
Northwest next week. One will arrive Monday over Washington and British Columbia. Another will spread from British Columbia to Washington and
Oregon Wednesday night and Thanksgiving Day.
