Another round of heavy rain and high winds will lash the coastal Northwest as a new Pacific storm moves onshore tonight into Sunday. Meanwhile, heavy snow developing once again in the Cascades will create dangerous travel conditions.

The heaviest rain will fall across western parts of Washington and Oregon tonight. By Sunday morning, rainfall totals will reach 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts.

These same areas have been hit hard recently by rounds of heavy rain that have sent rivers running high. The additional rainfall through Sunday will keep some of these rivers in flood stage and continue the threat for flooding of adjacent roadways and farmland.

The storm will also lash the coastline and mountains of Washington and Oregon with strong winds that gust up to 50 to 70 mph tonight into early Sunday. As has been the case with the last few storms, tree damage and power outages could result.

Across the Cascades, snow will become heavier tonight into Sunday morning with totals reaching up to 1 to 2 feet! Up to half a foot is expected in the Blue Mountains and Bitterroots.

The heavy snow in the Cascades will affect many of the major passes, including Snoqualmie and Stevens. These roads were mainly wet Saturday afternoon but are expected to become slippery and snow-covered tonight.

If you must travel through the Cascades into Sunday morning, be prepared for long delays and possible closures. Travel will be hazardous to nearly impossible in some areas.

The rain, wind and snow will start easing up Sunday afternoon into Sunday night before the next storm arrives Monday.
