Damaging thunderstorms will
threaten the lower
Mississippi Valley today ahead of a
cold front that will bring cooler weather into the weekend.
Thunderstorms developing across Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama today will be capable of
damaging winds, torrential downpours and even a tornado or two.
Residents in this region should be aware of the latest watches and warnings and take necessary precautions in the face of an on-coming storm.
These storms are forming along a front that brought damaging weather across Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas on Thursday. It is also part of a bigger
system that is bringing
blizzard conditions to the Front Range of Colorado.
On Thursday, multiple tornadoes were reported in Arkansas and Louisiana, including one in
Shreveport, La., which caused a church steeple to topple onto
a car, trapping one man inside.
Damaging thunderstorm wind gusts and
flash flooding also caused damage around the region.
Behind this front, temperatures will fall from
eastern Louisiana to
Alabama heading into the weekend.
