The weather over most of
the Midwest and Plains will remain humble in comparison to the wrath of Ida
on the Atlantic coast and the developing
snowstorm situation for the
Rockies.
Chillier air and a swath of
light rain will spread southeastward across the
northern and central Plains into Saturday.
In the wake of the cool push which will stretch from Alpena, Mich., to Garden City, Kan., by Saturday, temperatures will be slashed by 10 to 20
degrees off midweek highs.
Above-average temperatures will continue to the south and east of this area through the weekend with highs in 60s in the north and the 70s in the
south.
Meanwhile, one storm is already producing rain and snow in the
Rockies.
As the first storm leaves, a second, more vigorous storm from
the Northwest will grab the lingering moisture and
produce heavy snowfall that can impact travel along the Front Range of the
Rockies and part of the High Plains this weekend.
Significant rain can push eastward from the storm reaching the middle
Mississippi Valley later Sunday.

Southwest Regional News story has more on
the snowstorms in the
Rockies.
