A storm emerging from the
Rockies will spread some rain across the northern Plains during the next few
days. More substantial rain and snow will develop over the nation's midsection as the weekend comes to a close.
Mild and
breezy conditions will grace
the Midwest today. Temperatures will warm into the 50s across the
Great Lakes, while 60-degree warmth prevails from South Dakota to the mid-
Mississippi Valley.
Light showers will continue to dot the northern Plains today. The showers will become more numerous
across the region tonight with the arrival of a
cold front. Enough cold air will arrive that the
rain showers change to snow in
Rapid City, S.D.
The showers will continue to push to the south and east across the northern Plains on Friday. A steadier period of rain will wet
northern Minnesota. The showers will reach
Chicago and
Kansas City on Saturday.
The weekend will also get underway with a
snowstorm diving into the
Intermountain West. Substantial rain and even snow will accompany the storm as it emerges into the Plains Sunday into Monday.
The rain should begin to develop across Kansas, Oklahoma and western Texas on Sunday. Snow may be falling over
Denver at this time.
The rain will likely spread over more of the central Plains on Monday as thunderstorms roll through places to the south and
wet snow blankets the High Plains.
Residents and visitors to the Plains should check back with AccuWeather.com for the latest updates on the upcoming storm. Travel delays are likely
from both the system's
drenching rain and snow.
