It's been a rough month so far for
Midwesterners, who have endured rounds of chilly rain and early season snow. Unfortunately, the trend is expected to continue through next week as
several more storms blast through the region.
The latest
storm system will put a damper on some outdoor plans through
Monday as it spreads rain from the Dakotas and Nebraska to the
Great Lakes
and
Ohio Valley.
The rain will mix with or change over to snow on the western fringe, including in places like Scottsbluff, Neb.,
Rapid City, S.D., and
Bismarck, N.D., through Sunday. Several inches could accumulate
in the Black Hills of South Dakota by Sunday.
By Monday, snow could mix with rain farther east in cities like
Duluth, Minn., and Rhinelander, Wis. Little or no accumulation is
expected.
Meanwhile, people farther south from
Minneapolis to
Chicago,
Indianapolis and
Detroit will deal with occasional rain Sunday and/or Monday.
A stronger
storm system set to blast the Pacific Northwest with
heavy rain, snow and
gusty winds Sunday into Monday will start impacting
the Midwest by Tuesday.
This system will have the potential to spread heavier rain and produce
gusty
winds across
the Midwest during the middle of the week. Colder air
filtering in behind the storm will allow snow to fall on its backside from the
Rockies into the Dakotas and parts of Minnesota.
Since this is expected to be a stronger
storm system with heavier
precipitation, it will likely have a greater impact on travel than the
storm
system affecting the region this weekend.
