The wintry chill to the air in
the Northeast today will fade over the weekend.
Meanwhile, any leftover rain and snow showers will taper off by this afternoon, and should not create any widespread travel problems.
A coastal storm departing quickly into Atlantic Canada today has spared
the Northeast the worst of its
heavy rain and snow. However, a gusty breeze will continue to make AccuWeather
RealFeel® temperatures colder than actual readings, behind the system.
The
gusty winds will be enough to create blizzards of leaves in the
suburbs and ticker tape in Manhattan. However, winds will not be strong enough to create damage like widespread downed tree branches or power
outages.
If you plan on spending any amount of time outdoors today or tonight, winter coats will add some comfort.
The storm's heaviest snow and rain will target Nova Scotia and Newfoundland into Saturday as it races away. This AccuWeather.com Headline has more
information.
After more than an inch of snow has fallen over some of the
higher elevation of
New England, a couple of snow showers will be leftover
in these areas through the first part of today.
Some spotty rain and snow showers will also impact upstate New York,
northern
Pennsylvania, and southeast
New England through the morning
hours.
However, there should not be any major travel problems today with little to no accumulation expected.
Despite the cold blast into Friday, a quick turnaround is in store for most areas this weekend. Highs will climb into the 50s and the 60s Saturday
and Sunday. Temperatures will reach unusually warm levels much of next week.
