Contrast across the South
7/24/2008 7:50 AM
A cold front that sparked strong storms in the East on Wednesday will push into the South today, creating a contrast across the region.

A northwesterly flow behind the front will bring dry air to the Carolinas and northern parts of Georgia and Alabama. South of the front, the hot and humid air will spark another round of strong thunderstorms.

The AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center reports that Tropical Storm Dolly has moved into Mexico today; however, there will be some lingering strong surf along the Louisiana coast.

The East Regional News story reports high pressure has allowed unseasonably cool air to move into the East behind the front. The combination tonight of clear skies and calm winds will result in unusually cool lows that could set new records.
