Warmth Wins
5/5/2008 2:43 PM
The stretch of cool weather in the Northeast will come to an end during the middle of the week as building high pressure east of the Mississippi brings increasing warmth to the region.

The chilly air moved into the East behind the storms that raked across the country last week. The South Regional News reports the increasing high pressure will pump warm air into the Southeast and the East.

Temperatures this morning in the Northeast interior dipped to or below freezing, including:
  • Bradford, Pa.: 25°
  • Saranac Lake, N.Y.: 25°
  • Bennington, Vt.: 28°
  • Glens Falls, N.Y.: 29°
  • Clearfield, Pa.: 31°
The Capital District of New York can expect a frost or freeze tonight, before sunshine brings building warmth Tuesday midday and afternoon.

The increasing warmth and sunshine will last through Wednesday, while a new storm system makes its way towards the region.

The Southwest Regional News story, a potent storm system on Wednesday will develop over the Arklatex and lower Mississippi Valley. The system is forecast to reach the Northeast by late Thursday or Friday.
