Late-Week Storm Could Have Big Impacts on Northeast

As AccuWeather.com meteorologists have been warning for several weeks now, a storm expected to form along the East Coast late this upcoming week could lead to travel disruptions in the Northeast and make for a miserable shopping day on Black Friday.

On the other hand, this storm could also be great news for skiers. Most computer models show the storm taking a path that would bring soaking rain and gusty winds to New England and snow to the interior Northeast.

However, a shift in the storm's track several hundred miles west or east could produce much different results. AccuWeather.com meteorologists will be closely monitoring trends in the computer models for any changes throughout the upcoming week and what impacts those would have on the Northeast.

As it stands, parts of New England have the potential to pick up some heavy rain from this storm Friday. In many areas, it would be a windswept rain, making for a nasty day for shoppers trying to take advantage of Black Friday deals.

The rain could even be heavy enough to cause flooding in a few areas. New York City, Boston and Portland, Maine are among the cities that could be affected by rain Friday.

As for the snow, areas from the mountains of northern Pennsylvania into New York and northern New England will have the best chance of accumulating snow given the current forecast storm track.

While the snow could create slippery travel, it would be much-welcomed by people planning on doing some skiing over the holiday weekend.

In the near term, this AccuWeather.com Headline has information on a coastal storm that will be affecting the Northeast over the next couple of days.
