For Windows 95/98:
- Start (lower left corner of screen)
- Programs
- Command Prompt (traditionally called the DOS Prompt)
- type >ftp
- type >open ftp.accuweather.com (press enter)
- enter: username (press enter)
enter: password (press enter)
- To check directory to see if files are available, type >dir
- type >binary (press enter)
- enter file name to get file >get file
- when done getting all files: type >quit (press enter)
- exit DOS by clicking the tiny "X" window in the top right corner.
Files will be downloaded to the default directory, which probably is C:/WINDOWS. If file(s) cannot be found:
- Start
- go to find files or folders
- type file name in the named field
- Click the find now button
- The search may take up to a minute. All of the files that it does find will display near the bottom of that window To the right of each file is the location of that file.
- Click the "My computer" icon on your mainscreen.
- Double click the C: Then double click the windows folder, the filename you are looking for should be in this folder.
