Weather for Thanksgiving Festivities
Updated: Saturday, November 21, 2009 8:02 AM

Gusty winds and colder air will impact the Deep South on Thanksgiving morning, but it should be dry in most areas. The exception will be South Florida, where there will be some spotty showers around.

Meanwhile, a storm will begin to develop along the Eastern Seaboard on Thursday, but most of the rain should stay south and east of the major Northeast cities during the morning.

Cold air pushing across the warmer Great Lakes will trigger snow showers from Michigan to West Virginia, but little, if any, accumulation is expected. Snowflakes could be flying in Detroit as the Lions and Green Bay Packers take the field.

Conditions will be ideal for football games and other Thanksgiving Day festivities in both Dallas and Denver. Most of the western half of the country will have warm sunshine, but another Pacific storm could bring more rain to the Northwest coast.
