The big weather item for holiday travelers on Wednesday, one of the busiest
travel days of the year, will be a turn to much colder weather and snow showers
across the upper Mississippi Valley and Great Lakes. Any significant snow
accumulation should be confined to the normally favored snow belts such as
those of northern Michigan; however, reduced visibility in snow showers plus
gusting winds could cause some flight delays.
Windswept rain could slow motorists in northern and eastern New England.
Elsewhere on the East Coast as well as the South will be dry, but a few stray
showers are possible in South Florida and southern Texas. Meanwhile, dry
weather will dominate the West Coast with any appreciable rain falling in
northern Washington.
