The storm taking a tour of the Gulf states, dropping flooding rain this weekend, will move up the Eastern Seaboard Sunday night through Tuesday. The storm could cause minor coastal flooding in areas that were ravaged by Ida, while rain spreads from the Deep South through New England.
The rain that spreads across the mid-Atlantic and New England will generally
not be as heavy as the rain flooding the South. AccuWeather.com Meteorologists
will continue to monitor the progress of the storm. For now, it seems that only
poor drainage or low-lying areas will deal with flooding across the interior of
these regions.
Meanwhile, strong onshore winds will be fueled between the storm and an area of
high pressure over the Canadian Maritimes. The gusty winds directed onshore
will force ocean water toward the coast, creating a minor coastal flood threat
at high tide. Some minor beach erosion could occur as well.
Low-lying streets near the coast could be closed by the flooding. Beach-front
homes and businesses could also have some flooding.
