Hi Frank,
Jeff and myself are really on Ida right now, but I have been looking at the weather channel and Dr. Steve Lyons was just mentioning this morning that by the time Ida hits the gulf by mid week that it will encounter the frontal system. He then went on to say that it will turn the system back downward in the the and dissipate. I thought that once a tropical system encounters a frontal boundary that it tends to steer it to the north then east.
I also feel as thought the guys at the NHC are not paying attention to what Ida is about to do once it enters the bath like warm waters of the Caribbean sea. This storm is not leaving the Caribbean a tropical storm, lets say a strong cat 1 on the verge of becoming a min cat 2.
Your Take?

Frank, good afternoon. The system down in the Caribbean...looking at some of the computer models is there any chance at all or is it still to early to call as to wheather or not the big bend area of florida could be threathened by the system?
I know this may sound a little crazy, but iam truely a weather geek and would love to have the system to come up this way like Kate did in 1985. I was small then and really dont remember much about Kate so for what would be the next named storm Ida to come here would be HOT!

Hi Frank,
According to the NHC we now have TS Ida onboard and I have a feeling that this system is going to hug the coast or stay just off shore. If that is the case watch out. I also see very nice tropical wave to the east which looks like it is going merge with the storm and give it more fuel. I see a cat. 3 or cat. 4 in the next few days heading into the Eastern Gulf.

Hi Frank,
This disturbance in the Southern Caribbean looks like a tropical storm this morning but is still not named. What is going at the NHC. This looks like it is going to became a major hurricane and target Florida early to mid week next week. I,ve seen named storms that weren't this developed as this one. Thanks Frank for listening to me vent about the NHC.
Jeff
