This weekend is the 18-year anniversary of the mother of all Nor'easters, the "Halloween Storm", "Halloween Nor'easter", "Unnamed Hurricane", "No-Name Storm" or "Perfect Storm" (which of course was the title of a book and movie). This storm occurred when Hurricane Grace transferred its energy into a low pressure system off the Northeast Coast (something that almost happened in 2005 with Hurricane Wilma).

You can read more about this storm on NCDC's website, NOAA's report, or WikiPedia.

My daughter and I were just talking about this storm last night. we lived in Maryland, near Annapolis. The rain was incredible. The kids went out trick or treating anyway, but man, it was WET and just pouring rain. Every kid had their costume on... and a big raincoat!!
