Weather News

The good news is that, for much of the nation, the weather on Wednesday will
not work to hinder travelers on one of the busiest travel days of the year. But
trouble spots will be found with a focus upon the upper Mississippi Valley and
the Great Lakes.

Wet snow and gusty winds will chill Minnesota and Wisconsin into Iowa and
northern Illinois. Wet, slippery roads will slow traffic, at least a little.
Intermittent rain will make for less-than-ideal travel between Lower Michigan
and Indiana, to the west, and Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, to the
east.

Showers and even a few drenching thunderstorms will visit central and South
Florida. Drivers will encounter rain-slick pavement. Flights may be effected as
well.

In contrast, dry weather, often bright and sunny, will hold sway over
California, Texas and a broad corridor from the Gulf Coast to the Intermountain
and the Pacific shore. Given the expected volume of traffic on highways and
airways, this will afford travelers one less hassle.
