High pressure will take hold over the West today, bringing a dry day for most.
While clouds will remain over the Northwest, areas farther south will have
abundant sunshine.

Over the next few days, the jet stream will shift northward as the high
pressure builds in. This means that the dry, sunny weather in California and
the Southwest will remain constant for much of the week. This should also steer
any approaching systems to the north, sparing the storm-weary Northwest from
the brunt of the storms moving ashore.
