In addition to feasting with family and friends, Thanksgiving Day traditions
also include watching parades and football. Unfortunately, wet and wintry
weather threatens to put a damper on these festivities across parts of the
Midwest, Northeast and Northwest.

One of the most famous Thanksgiving Day events across the nation is the Macy's
Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. EST,
and will take a new route down 7th Avenue this year. The temperature at the
start of the parade will likely be 50 degrees. Clouds and spotty showers will
only allow the temperature to rise to 55 degrees.

Spectators can be thankful that the blustery weather anticipated for New York
City will hold off until Friday. If the parade was schedule for Friday, winds
could be strong enough to force officials to ground the large balloons. Winds
instead on Thursday will be light.

Soon after the parade ends, one of three National Football League games will
get underway in Detroit. Since the Lions will host the Green Bay Packers in a
dome, play will not become impacted by the rain and snow showers forecast for
Detroit.

The other two football games on Thanksgiving Day feature the Dallas Cowboys
hosting the Oakland Raiders in the afternoon and the Denver Broncos taking on
the visiting New York Giants in the evening. The weather will be ideal for both
of these football games.
