Heavy Rain and Dangerous Thunderstorms Heading East
Wednesday 10:30 a.m.
Today's Northeast video shows how the coming storm system should move and what its effects will be along the way. With such an energetic trough crossing a region with plenty of moisture and a large contrast in temperature, heavy rain will be common north of the storm track, and violent thunderstorms will be to the south.
This map shows the low pressure at the western edge. The isobars help define the location of the frontal boundary between the hot and cool air masses. Note how widely spaced these lines are in the middle of the map. In this area, the exact boundary is difficult to determine.
Please follow the unfolding storm situation with our stories and frequent videos (because this report is usually not updated).
I will be out of the office from Friday until the end of the month. I may post occasionally during the vacation.
