AccuWeather Reaffirms 20-year Commitment to the American Cancer Society
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. August 4, 2010 - AccuWeather.com, the world's leading multimedia weather information source, today announced it is the recipient of the American Cancer Society's Pennsylvania Division Corporate Excellence Award, 2009 for its ongoing contribution to the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days fundraiser. The award was presented to AccuWeather on July 29, 2010 in a ceremony at its headquarters in State College, Pa.
"The Corporate Excellence Award recognizes a company's complete support of the society through fundraising, volunteerism, and employee engagement," said Mike Neal, Vice President of Division Field Operations for the American Cancer Society. "My hope is that other companies will look to someone like AccuWeather and say, 'we would like to be like that.'"
For nearly 20 years, AccuWeather has served as the Premier Sponsor of the American Cancer Society's annual Daffodil Days fundraiser for Centre County, Pa. - while also actively participating in fundraising efforts.
"The American Cancer Society focuses on saving lives and AccuWeather's mission is saving lives and protecting property," said AccuWeather Chief Executive Officer, Barry Myers. "It makes perfect sense for a company like ours to support the mission of the American Cancer Society since we both focus on saving lives, just in different ways."
