Motorola Solutions' Intelligent Data Portal and AccuWeather Enterprise Services will help public safety agencies, first responders, and enterprises by providing breaking severe weather data

AccuWeather Global Weather Center, June 16, 2014 -- AccuWeather, Inc., the global leader in digital weather information, is pleased to work with Motorola Solutions as the sole provider of real-time weather data through their Intelligent Data Portal to help increase situational awareness for first responders in the field.

"Clearly, breaking weather information plays a key role in proper situational awareness, not only in the case of severe weather events but with virtually any kind of disaster," said Casey McGeever, Chief Commercial Officer for AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions. "AccuWeather is proud to work with Motorola Solutions to provide this critical data layer which can be shared across agencies and enterprises to keep on top of changing weather conditions and ultimately better protect life and property for private staff and public safety workers and for the public at large."

AccuWeather Enterprise Services provides Intelligent Data Portal users with high-resolution radar to track local storms, lightning strikes, wildfire reports, hurricanes, and other environmental factors. They also provide the most up-to-date watches and warnings, helping agents in the field make the best informed decisions when lives may be at stake.

The new Intelligent Data Portal from Motorola Solutions Inc. (NYSE:MSI) can help public safety agencies who need an efficient way to access information in the field from multiple databases across different mobile devices and networks. Intelligent Data Portal is a mobile, cloud-based application that gathers contextual information from existing databases. It then organizes and maps it using role-based layers to show the location and context of people, resources, events, and developing situations. Users in the field can see near real-time updates of data from sensors, surveillance cameras, and other events to provide warnings of escalating and evolving situations.

"Severe weather and changing conditions can have a significant impact on first responders in the field," said Tim Boyle, Vice President of Application Products and Solutions, Motorola Global Solutions and Services. "The collaboration with AccuWeather will allow agencies using Motorola's Intelligent Data Portal to have first-hand knowledge of current conditions as well as severe weather and natural disaster warnings."
