SkyGuard Online Now Brings Complete Suite of Canadian Weather to Desktops, Laptops and Tablets
STATE COLLEGE, PA, July 27, 2011 - AccuWeather, Inc. today introduces the addition of comprehensive Canadian warnings and radar in the latest upgrade to SkyGuard® Online. The interactive mapping system uses the Esri ArcGIS 10 Enabled technology to help businesses track how weather will impact their operations.
Through SkyGuard Online, enterprises receive customized, site-specific AccuWeather severe weather warnings that have been demonstrated to save lives. Weather conditions monitored include lightning, flooding, tornados, hail, hurricanes, ice, snow and more. The easy-to-access web interface of SkyGuard Online integrates each customer's assets - such as retail outlets, medical facilities, manufacturing sites, data centers, and transportation routes - with all types of real-time weather information. The site is accessed via desktops, laptops and selected tablets.
SkyGuard Online now provides access to a full suite of watches and warnings for Canada. Environment Canada (EC) warnings are displayed in real time. The details provided with each warning include:
- Area of impact: region or sub-region
- Natural disasters: dust storm, hurricane, storm surge
- Severe weather: rainfall, severe thunderstorm, tornado, wind
- Winter weather: blizzards, extreme temperatures, freeze, frost, snow squall, winter storm
Also available is a composite picture of where precipitation is occurring across the country via Environment Canada (EC) radar. Updated every 15 minutes, it covers the regions of Canada that are prone to thunderstorms and where 98% of the country's population lives.
"The addition of official Environment Canada radar and warnings to the newest release of SkyGuard Online completes the suite of weather information that enterprises have been requesting to monitor weather impact on their Canadian locations," said Bradley J. Mitchell, Chief Commercial Officer, AccuWeather Enterprise Solutions.
"Combined with AccuWeather's own pinpoint, custom SkyGuard warnings, enterprises with Canadian assets now have the comprehensive weather information they need to protect their people, property, and profits."
In addition to the complete SkyGuard Online turnkey solution, AccuWeather also provides both the Environment Canada warnings and the accurate, comprehensive, and customized SkyGuard data and warnings as GIS data layers so that customers may integrate it into their own systems.
