A parade of storms will slide north of a zone of extreme heat, bringing daily thunderstorm chances to portions of the Midwest and Great Lakes.

The unsettled weather pattern will develop over the Midwest and Great Lakes the next few days. It began with a round of strong thunderstorms across portions of the Dakotas and Minnesota Friday night.

The strongest storms threaten to bring damaging winds greater than 50 mph and large hail.

The good news is that there will be some chances for thunderstorms over areas suffering from severe drought in the coming days, such as Chicago, Milwaukee, South Bend and Grand Rapids.

However, areas farther south in the Ohio Valley will remain rather dry through Monday before some rainfall returns by the middle of next week.

Keep checking back with the latest on storms targeting the Midwest and Great Lakes.
