VIDEO: Snow Meets Japan's Bullet Train
Winter snow is very much a part of daily life in northern and western Japan, so infrastructure must be built to handle all but the most unusual weather that nature can dish out.
In this video, taken on Feb. 1, trains following a line on Japan's famous Shinkansen, or "bullet train", cut through the wintry scene with dramatic effect.
This railway is located in the Tohoku region of northeastern Honshu.

Hail is much more common during the months of May and June compared to July and August. The main reason is the fact that the freezing level is usually higher during July and August as pockets of cold air in the upper atmosphere are less common as the jet stream weakens and retreats farther north.
