More comfortable air will grace Little Rock today.

Little Rock, Ark., has recently endured a record-breaking streak of warm weather, not just in terms of high temperatures, but also overnight lows.

Wednesday marked the 58th consecutive day that temperatures soared to or past 90 degrees in Little Rock. That breaks the record for the longest streak of 90-degree days.

The 57 days that spanned from July 22 to Sep. 16, 1980, previously held the record.

The record stretch of 90 degrees will not climb anymore. More comfortable air following the passage of a cold front will hold temperatures today to 86 degrees.

Meanwhile, Tuesday morning marked the first day since June 7th that temperatures in Little Rock dipped below 70 degrees.

Those 77 days before Tuesday mark the longest stretch of low temperatures remaining at or above 70 degrees in the history of Little Rock. The previous record was held by the 75 days that spanned from July 1 to Sep. 13, 1938.

During this record stretch of warm overnight lows, temperatures even failed to drop out of the lower 80s on seven occasions.

Record keeping in Little Rock began on July 1, 1879.

People need to pay close attention to the UV index during this time of year. On a sunny day late in the spring and into the summer, the UV is usually at least an 8, which is very high. Readings over 11 are considered extreme values in which only 10 minutes of full exposure to the sun will produce a sunburn.
