A major snowstorm is unfolding in the Plains, after unloading more than a foot of snow across parts of the Rockies Wednesday.

Roadways Thursday morning were treacherous, with portions of I-70, US36 and US83 listed as being completely snow and ice covered in Kansas. I-90 and I-35 in Minnesota were also seeing hazardous conditions.

The early-May snow will be historic across portions of the Midwest.
