Storm Risk in the East Next Week

The same storm expected to unload heavy snow from the Rockies to the central Plains over the next few days may have to be dealt with in the East next week in the form of rain, wind and flooding concerns.

While is it way too early for details on this storm, river and stream levels remain high in the wake of the winter storms and thaw of late, while the subsoil remains saturated in many areas.

As we have stated many times here at AccuWeather.com, the gun remains loaded in terms of flooding potential at the local level in the East and the South for the next four to six weeks.

In addition, many beaches have be literally blasted away by the winter storms with the storm this past weekend delivering a devastating blow.

While some sand will be brought back naturally by more gentle wave action later in the spring, damage to breakwaters, jetties and dunes will need human help.

Many communities along the shoreline from the Delmarva to southern Maine are now more vulnerable than they have been in years.

There still is potential for some rather nasty nor'easters in the coming few weeks, given the weather pattern.

Look for more information at AccuWeather.com about the storm, flooding potential and long-term problems at the beaches in the coming days.
