State College: More Snow, Ice in the Offing for Sunday

By By Alex Sosnowski, expert senior meteorologist.

A return of colder air to State College and central Pennsylvania was accompanied by a few inches of snow early Friday night which made for some slick road conditions.

The weekend will be cold around central Pennsylvania with high temperatures in the upper 20s Sunday.

After a break from precipitation on Saturday, another round of snow, a wintry mix and slippery travel is forecast for Sunday afternoon into early Monday.

Enough snow and ice can fall to make for slippery travel locally.

The worst conditions in terms of downed trees and power disruptions from an ice buildup will be over the I-81 corridor reaching from the I-77 junction in Virginia northeastward to around Harrisburg, Pa. Travel may still be hazardous in these areas into Monday morning rush hour.

The coldest air of the season so far may follow during the middle of next week and could feature nighttime lows in the single digits in the most frigid locations.
