    Photos: Texas and New Mexico Have More Snow Than Chicago

    Pacific moisture collided with cold air from the Rockies on Thursday to produce a small snowstorm in Texas and New Mexico.

    Pacific moisture collided with cold air from the Rockies on Thursday to produce a small snowstorm in Texas and New Mexico. Arctic air came down into western Texas, as a storm system came out of the southwest, bringing with it Pacific moisture.

    A trace of snow tied the snowfall records set on Jan. 4, 1972 for Austin's Camp Mabry and Bergstrom Airport. Four inches of snow was recorded 9 miles northwest of Carlsbad, N.M. Four and a half inches of snow was reported in Fort Stockton, Texas.
    ABC News' Ginger Zee tweeted that traditionally snowy Chicago wasn't measuring up to snow in some warmer areas farther south.
    Chicago has had 0.9" of snow this season - yesterday, El Paso, TX had 3", San Angelo, TX=0.5", Carlsbad, NM=4.5" and San Antonio=TraceGinger Zee
