Latest Snowfall Totals and Damage Reports
An arctic front moving across the Great Lakes, the mid-Atlantic and New England is blasting the areas with frigid air. Additionally, bursts of snow and dangerously low visibility will slam the region at times today.
In Michigan, 4.0" of snow have already fallen in Algonac while Flint has also picked up 4". Another 4" of snow have blanketed an area three miles south of Suttons Bay, Mich., while 4.4" of snow have fallen on East Grand Rapids. Gerald R. Ford airport in Michigan has had 6.2' of snowfall so far. Two miles west of the town of ADA, Mich., has received 5.3" of snow.
In Indiana, 6.8 inches have fallen 7 miles northeast of Fort Wayne, Ind. Snow amounts around the city have generally been around 4".
Wisconsin has had 1.9" of snow at Milwaukee International Airport.
At Midway airport near Chicago, 1.6" of snow have piled up. Winds gusted to 50mph in Chicago and snow covered roads are causing slippery travel and dangerous driving conditions. Visibility has been reduced by snow squalls, and heavier snow amounts have fallen along the lakefront and downtown. A foot of snow has been reported 2 miles to the west-southwest of Burns Harbor.
Reedsville, Pa. has received 4" of snow.

Hail is much more common during the months of May and June compared to July and August. The main reason is the fact that the freezing level is usually higher during July and August as pockets of cold air in the upper atmosphere are less common as the jet stream weakens and retreats farther north.
