Two Canadian couples got a wild ride Tuesday morning as the hot air balloon they chartered made a hard-landing in a field in far west Phoenix. The husbands surprised their wives with a romantic morning balloon ride. It was going well until the pilot tried to land. The balloon careened out of control and dragged the basket through about 20 rows of a cotton field. Although some of the crop was wiped out, no one was hurt. The tourists say they have no regrets.  They were looking for adventure and found one.
Weather plays a huge roll in how and when you should balloon. Of course you should not fly in the event that it is raining, but wind direction and speed also play a major role. Winds should be light, but not too light so as to make your ride lack direction.
