Snowstorm to Graze Philly on Tuesday

By By Kristina Pydynowski, senior meteorologist
    March 25, 2014, 11:33:13 AM EDT

As cold air lingers around Philadelphia through midweek, a snowstorm will graze the region.

Through Wednesday, temperatures will be held to within a couple of degrees of the 40 F mark, which is more representative of a typical January day. A high around 56 F is more common this time of year.

While the storm delivering the snow Tuesday will not evolve into a blizzard until after departing Philadelphia, 1-3 inches is expected locally.

Most of the snow that falls during the daytime will accumulate on grassy and elevated surfaces. It would take a heavy burst of snow, which cannot be ruled out, to overcome the effects of the strong March sun and briefly turn roads slippery.

Gusty winds in the wake of the snow could cause Wednesday to be the coldest day of the week, in terms of AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures.

Temperatures are forecast to rebound to or above seasonable levels late in the week.
