Chicago: Cold to Make a Brief Comeback

By By Kristen Rodman, AccuWeather.com Staff Writer

Following some springlike days in the city, a cold front will usher another blast of cool air into much of the Midwest and East before warmer weather returns at midweek.

Beginning Monday, the cold front moved into the city, dropping temperatures into the low 40s. Tuesday will follow suit with daytime highs barely reaching 40 F.

Residents should consider halting the planting of temperature sensitive vegetation, as overnight temperatures are expected to hover in the upper 20s and 30s.

However, warmer weather will return to the city at midweek, as temperatures rise back into the upper 50s, accompanied by sunshine.

Sunshine and average temperatures will prevail in the city through Thursday.

Rain showers will dampen the area on Friday as clouds roll in. Breezy winds will also gust in the city on Friday with gusts up to 29 mph possible.

Cloudy skies will hover over the city through the weekend with showers in the forecast for Chicago both Saturday and Sunday.
