A tour bus reportedly carrying 23 university lacrosse players has crashed along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in central Pennsylvania, leading to two fatalities.

Corporal Roy from the Pennsylvania State Police confirmed to that the accident happened on the eastbound side of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) at mile marker 227, located in between Carlisle and Mechanicsburg.

The Associated Press reports that the crash happened about 9 a.m. EDT, roughly the time when snow had begun lightly falling at the nearby Harrisburg International Airport.

Thermometers in the surrounding area were registering above-freezing temperatures of 37/38 degrees at the time of the crash and the snow was not falling heavily at the Harrisburg International Airport.

Corporal Roy confirmed one fatality in the crash and reported that almost 20 people sustained injuries. Another person later died at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, according to the Associated Press.

"It is my understanding that the roads were dry," Roy stated, but he was quick to point out that he was not on scene and was located in Harrisburg.
