Saturday was a stellar day across much of the U.K. Temperatures soared to near 20C near London. And, Sunday could prove slightly warmer.
Following months of stormy weather, high pressure brought this stretch of unseasonable warmth and plenty of sunshine to the United Kingdom, Ireland and western Europe.
A wet February for much of the U.K. came on the heels of record-setting rainfall earlier this winter. In the U.K., December and January were the wettest on record.
High pressure has shifted to the southwest this weekend allowing some showers to occur across Scotland; however, dry weather will continue across much of Ireland, Wales and England. Despite a mixture of clouds and sunshine temperatures will remain well above normal this weekend.
Stormy weather will return to Ireland and the United Kingdom during the first half of next week with both spells of rain and strong winds. Meanwhile, dry and warm weather will hold on from France into Spain and Portugal.
