Atlanta: Sunshine to Move in This Weekend

By By Michael Kuhne, AccuWeather.Com Staff Writer
    June 27, 2014, 11:50:15 PM EDT

While not as active, storms will remain in the forecast for the Atlanta area for the weekend. More sunshine can be expected, but the chance for a shower or thunderstorm will remain each day into early next week.

"A shower or thunderstorm may come around again Friday," AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Dave Houk said. "This helps keep temperatures in check, but more dry time and more sunshine will help push temperatures toward 90 over the weekend"

Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s through the weekend, slightly above the normal high.

Thunderstorms will remain isolated and brief in the afternoon hours.

The possibility for a shower or thunderstorm will continue each day of the weekend, Houk said, adding a similar trend will carry into Monday.

"It will certainly not be a washout," he said.

The storms could cause travel delays across interstate highways and for flights out of Atlanta International Airport.

Temperatures will remain near the 90 F into midweek, with overnight lows approaching 70 F.
