Penn State Weather Camp 2010 Visits AccuWeather

Aug 26, 2010; 10:24 AM ET

As they did in previous years, the Penn State Weather Camp (a week-long meteorology camp for 8th-12th graders) visited AccuWeather HQ here in State College, PA in June. I helped out with the tours of the building and forecaster training. As always, it was a pleasure to interact with the campers and their leaders. I had been so busy I didn't get to upload any photos or videos here on my blog (although we did that day on Facebook.com/AccuWeather). Without further ado, here are some photos from the camp:

Each of the kids was asked to state their name, where they were from, and why they like weather. During the first week, this also doubled as some of their first experiences on "the green screen." The videos are shown below. They are pretty funny, especially the kid at 3:30 in the first video who wore a green shirt (the computer automatically replaces green with the map, so he was pretty much "invisible."

Here's a couple of behind-the-scenes videos from behind the camera:

Every spring, people say that flowers & trees are coming out earlier than last year. This year, they really are and I set out to prove it, by comparing photos I took in 2011 to 2012.
