Pittsburgh: Even Warmer Air to Arrive Memorial Day

    By Kristina Pydynowski, senior meteorologist
    May 26, 2014; 3:55 AM ET

While Sunday featured rising temperatures, even warmer air will reach Pittsburgh on Memorial Day.

Temperatures will once again soar on Memorial Day, exceeding Sunday's high and and reaching a high in the lower 80s.

Humidity will also stay low and prevent the holiday from feeling muggy.

The other good news for those attending memorial ceremonies, picnics, concerts and parades on Monday is that thunderstorms streaming into northern New England will stay well to the north of the city and its suburbs.

However, sunscreen is encouraged for anyone outside for extended periods of time.

Showers and drenching thunderstorms will return on Tuesday as the warmth hangs on and humidity increases.

However, Pittsburgh will not see a dramatic reduction in the heat like the rest of the Northeast on Wednesday since the press of cooler air will occur east of the Appalachians.
