Urban Flooding and Severe Storms

Commentary

The heavy rains around eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will head into New England today where 1-5 inches will fall. We are already seeing very heavy rains around Philadelphia that will be moving into New Jersey and perhaps even New York city this morning. The rains will actually enhance coming into New England this afternoon. Flash flooding and urban flooding will be the main impacts all the way through New England today.

Severe weather will be dependent on the amount of sunshine in the dry slot. I do think we will see a band of storms and possibly severe storms from New York to North Carolina. While wind damage will be the primary impact, a tornado or two cannot be ruled out from west-central New York to central Pennsylvania where EHI values are the highest according to the NAM model.

A stormy day over much of Michigan with moderate rains and winds gusting to 40 mph. Just think, it could be snowing!
