Updated Snow Map for the Storm Today to Friday

January 19, 2011; 11:07 AM ET

1. The snow that is coming across the country is a quick-hitting snowfall. It should last for about 8-12 hours in any one location.

2. Amounts from Kansas to western Pennsylvania will generally average 4 inches. Amounts of 6 inches are probably on the high side of the amounts, but will occur in a few places locally.

3. Amounts in the Northeast will max out in the 8- to 10-inch range. I think a foot of snow will be hard to come by due to the rapid movement of the storm. Thunder may occur once again with this storm.
